What a wonderful story of survival and friendship. Clara and Annie are traveling to see family. Annie being black is taken from her charge and placed into slavery even though she is a free woman. Clara is doing anything she can to survive without her working odd jobs at a saloon. Through bravery and wisdom, Clara makes friends and comes up with a plan for all of them to start new lives after the search for Annie is complete.
